expected

I had little expectations for this movie. I had seen a few trailers - the production quality looked good, and it seemed like it could be a good mix of zombie slapstick humor and serious zombie horror/action.

Zombieland is good, but has weak legs.
The movie started out with a nice innovative intro based in realism and common sense… points!
No shakey hand cams - more points!
Unfortunately, the movie was more on the side of comedy then horror. After the movie gets going, the script becomes hollywoodish and loses the feeling of realism - you feel like you’re watching a movie the whole time.
Another in the genre of mindless Zombie fodder flicks, where the zombies are really there only as something to shoot at and run over.
Zombieland also lacks any kind of real structured story - other then a teen coming of age love story (yeah I know how the heck did they work that in there) - but even that isn’t developed well. Basically, Zombieland is a character driven movie focusing on 4 characters who happen to be in the middle of a Zombie apocolypse.
And while I’m on the subject, why the hell did they decide to goto the Amusement park in LA? I mean, hello? That was just weak writing and a weak concept in my book - I mean with absolutely no sense at all, they should have gone really over the top with it, and put some sort of crazy logic and reason to it.
All the action scenes and the climatic amusement park scenes are flat.
The acting is well done, and Woody gave a surprisingly good performance.
Looks like the nerd kid (forget his name) is stuck in this role for life.
Kudos to the crazy cameo by Bill Murray - I wonder how much make up was really applied…

Zombieland is definitely worth watching - I mean after all its still a zombie flick… The best part of the movie is a couple of minutes in, with the parking lot chase - that little bit of cinema was classic.
