The Truth About Dungeons and Dragons
Most people are completely misinformed about dungeons and dragons or RPG's (Role Playing Games) in general.

Their perception is based on a few glimpses provided by the media and movies, which usually focus on nerdy, socially challeneged individulas. The game appears immature and played to a fanatical extent with vast memorization of intricate rules, and overly dramatic theatrical perfomances.

While this is certainly the case for a few indivduals... it is just one example and does not reflect the vast majority of gamers.

Most of the gamers playing Dungeons and Dragons are not obsessed with it. Playing an RPG is like playing a game of poker. It's about having a good time with your friends. Age, gender, what job you have, marital status etc... are all irrelvant when you sit down at a gaming table. This reveals one of the strongest lasting elements of the Dungeons and Dragons game.

Also like poker, playing RPG's is a lifelong experience. Once you start playing, you don't stop. I would say I enjoy the game more at this stage in my life, than when I was a kid. Of course, as you get older it's harder to have sleep overs, and incredibly difficult to cooridinate everyones schedules to play regularly.
