Scenes from a Favorite Movie A good gaming session is'nt easy to describe in words. There are a lot of different things that can lead to a great session - but the underlying them is always having fun. Most people don't realize the impact a good gaming session can have, and the lifelong impressions it can leave. To put this point into perspective, just thing about some of your favorite scenes from your favorite movies. You'll remember them for the rest of your life. These memories are the same as scenes played out in a good gaming session - but the difference is YOU the player, interacted to see them unfold. Funnily enough, when you discuss this aspect with people they always think the most memorable scenes from an rpg session will be some grand battle or plot resolving event. While this can be the case, it's often some simple little insignificant interaction or quote at an oppertune time that leaves the longest lasting impression. A personal scene from my recent memory, takes us aboard a pirate ship with the players headed for some mysterious island. I can't really do justice to the scene in text, but in a nutshell the ships cook a one eyed, wooden legged pirate served up soup to the players. Feeling particularly in character, I cocked one eye open and the other squinted shut and asked one of the players if he liked the soup. The preceding dialogue around the table was something out of a classic Saturday Night Live epsiode, and needless to say within a few minutes we were all on the floor crying hysterically.
